ndab Ah Yes, Medical School: Vindication!

Responses to my previous post regarding the benefits of oral sex and swallowing ranged from "This is the best thing that has ever happened to me (but maybe not my significant other)!!!" to "I don't buy that for a second" (sadly, there were no ladies replying with "Hey Mr. Sexy Blogger Man, can you help me with my preeclampsia?"). Well, in what will go down as the greatest 20 seconds of what was an otherwise unbelieveably and utterly painful two hour lecture this morning, the doctor presented this slide to our class regarding preeclampsia:

Risk Factors for

Decreased Risk
Heterlogoous blood Tx
practiced oral sex
long-term co-habitation

Increased Risk
hx of HTN and DMII
molar pregnancies
collagen vascular dx
long term condom use

new paternity

So what do we learn from this? Not only is it true that oral sex (and the aforementioned swallowing that goes with it) helps prevent preeclampsia, but not using condoms and smoking helps as well. So listen up kids: swallow and don't practice safe sex. Oh, and smoke all you want, too. Love, your doctor.
